In writing “Girl with the Golden Halo”, I was greatly inspired by the poem “The Invitation of the Golden Halo” by Mattheus Frederik. The challenge was to transform the vivid and elegant verses of this written work into a musical piece, while retaining the deep meaning and beautiful imagery that resonated with me.
The lyrics are designed to capture the essence of the woman described in the poem: her outer beauty symbolized by the golden halo of her hair and the inner beauty revealed through her wise soul, warm smile, and resilient spirit. The repetition of the phrase “She’s the girl with the golden halo” in the chorus serves as a central motif, anchoring listeners to the primary subject while also inviting them to explore the depth and dimensions of her character.
The bridge of the song is particularly significant, as it echoes the poem’s call to ‘look again’. It is an invitation to delve beneath the surface, to understand and appreciate the woman’s true spirit and the rare love she embodies.
Musically, I envisioned a gentle but powerful melody that would complement the lyrics’ nuances. Soft acoustic guitar strumming could underlie the verses, building into a more dynamic rhythm for the chorus, which would then recede again in the bridge before a strong finish.
While “Girl with the Golden Halo” was born out of a specific poem, I believe its theme is universal. It’s about acknowledging the multidimensional beauty in individuals — not just physical, but also the inner strength, wisdom, and grace. It’s a tribute to the radiance of the human spirit. As the songwriter, I hope listeners connect with this theme, finding a resonance in their experiences and understanding of beauty.

На написання «Дівчини із золотим німбом» мене дуже надихнув вірш «Запрошення золотого німбу» самого мене, Маттеуса Фредеріка. Завдання полягало в тому, щоб перетворити яскраві та елегантні вірші цього письмового твору на музичний твір, зберігаючи при цьому глибокий зміст і прекрасні образи, які резонували з мною.
Лірика створена так, щоб відобразити сутність жінки, описаної у вірші: її зовнішню красу, яку символізує золотий німб її волосся, і внутрішню красу, яка розкривається через її мудру душу, теплу усмішку та стійкий дух. Повторення фрази «Вона дівчина із золотим німбом» у приспіві служить центральним мотивом, прив’язуючи слухачів до основної теми, водночас запрошуючи їх дослідити глибину та розміри її характеру.
Міст пісні є особливо значущим, оскільки він перегукується із закликом вірша «поглянути ще раз». Це запрошення заглибитися під поверхню, зрозуміти й оцінити справжній дух жінки та рідкісну любов, яку вона втілює.
У музичному плані я передбачав ніжну, але потужну мелодію, яка б доповнювала відтінки тексту. М’яке бренчання акустичної гітари могло лежати в основі куплетів, створюючи більш динамічний ритм для приспіву, який потім знову відступав у бриджі перед сильним завершенням.
Хоча «Дівчина із золотим німбом» народилася з конкретної поеми, я вважаю, що її тема універсальна. Йдеться про визнання багатовимірної краси в особистості — не лише фізичної, а й внутрішньої сили, мудрості та витонченості. Це данина сяйву людського духу. Як автор пісень, я сподіваюся, що слухачі приєднаються до цієї теми, знайшовши резонанс у своєму досвіді та розумінні краси.
